In working with the Newtown community, they understand that more than Newtown has been emotionally affected by this shooting. Teachers all over the world are experiencing a new set of fears and doubts. There seems to be a new dimension to stress.

In Newtown, for all those in need emotional healing, Nick, Alex and Jessica Ortner are offering a service that studies are showing to be effective with post traumatic stress. They have called in the most experienced EFT practitioners for dealing with traumatic stress.

After talking to Newtown teachers, Jessica Ortner was inspired to put together a a simple EFT exercise designed for teachers all over the world that have been effected by the trauma of Newtown, CT. The video lays the foundation exercise, and then the downloadable audio is the process.

Even if you have never heard of EFT, the video has simple instructions. Then go here to download the guided audio EFT exercise that you can play and use everyday.

Please watch the video, and give the audio routine a try. It is a simple technique designed to diffuse stress. You may be totally surprised by its effectiveness.

I personally have used EFT for about 5 years, and think it offers the quickest emotional release of anything I have ever used. Please do try the process Jessica Ortner uses in the video and audio presentation. If you see a difference, then you will want to come back on Monday, and get further information on EFT.

Why Monday? Because you will be able to sign up for the annual EFT World Summit that will be starting soon. It is a TOTALLY FREE online event. If you have never heard of, or tried EFT, this will be a perfect opportunity to follow along, and try it for yourself. In this time of uncertainty, you might find this is a wonderful new way of stress release that is so easy to do.

You Can Actively Help Newtown CT

What Does Helping Newtown, CT Have to do with a Brain Health Site?

Healing the emotional trauma in Newtown, CT

Helping Heal the Emotional Trauma in Newtown, CT

Plenty.  Families that lost loved ones need to grieve, and recover from grief.   For others, the horrific events could lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, better known as PTSD.

When you are stressed, your brain does not function properly. Trauma-induced stress goes much deeper.  Grief limits our response to everyday life.  Grief can lead to long-term depression.  Grief counseling can give a good sense of direction to healing the emotional pain of loss.

Since last Friday, with the massacre in Newtown, CT, I have been searching for something to do other than send condolences. This community is in deep grief. They need more than condolences and well-wishing.

Today I got an email that was an answer to my prayers. I have a colleague that I do a lot of business with.  Although we have not personally met,  I have worked online with him and his family of siblings for about 5 years now. He is somebody that I trust and deeply respect.

In his email, he revealed exactly where he lives. It is Newtown, CT. This is a huge blessing in disguise. For this man, Nick Ortner, and the rest of the Ortner siblings have spent years studying one of the most effective tools for dealing with emotional trauma, pain and grief. And, being the kind, compassionate people that they are, Nick has put together a real and impactful way to help any local residents that need to diffuse the emotional trauma of this violent event.

Have you heard of EFT?

It is short for Emotional Freedom Techniques, or Tapping. If you have ever experienced Acupuncture or energy work with Meridians that the Chinese have used for centuries to keep people in good health, you know that energy can very easily get stuck. You also realize that there are techniques to get the energy moving again, and when that happens, you feel better.

I personally have been trained to use many different types of energy work to help people feel better emotionally. None of the methods I use work as quickly and effectively as EFT.  In my local community I know a number of people who have personally benefited from seeing a local EFT Practitioner.

Years ago, Nick and his family produced a wonderful DVD on EFT – the procedure, and the results obtained. And for years, Nick has brought together top EFT practitioners from all over the globe to educate, demonstrate, and help people heal old emotional wounds.

He also has supported research on EFT as an effective means of working with PTSD, of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

After the Friday Sandy Hook school massacre, Nick was deeply moved to help his community in the best way he knew how. He is calling in top professionals in the field of EFT that specifically have had incredible results with PTSD. He will be flying in and housing experts in the field to offer assistance to the communities. He and his family are volunteering their time and efforts. Yet there are physical costs of flights, housing, and meals.

So Nick Ortner has come up with an ingenious fund-raising plan. He is selling his original video on the principles of EFT for half-price. ALL PROCEEDS will go to the EFT fund for the Newtown, CT community.

This is a win-win situation. If you are not familiar with the incredible benefits of EFT, you will get an introductory education. If you already know about EFT, or have the DVD, then you can use the new copy to donate to a local library, and help further educate people to a very powerful process to release emotional trauma.

Instead of trying to give more explanations of the plan, and the program, just follow this link: The tapping Solution Blog

Even if you are not personally interested in EFT, the act of buying a video will contribute to a very important emotional work to help the families in Connecticut that are traumatized by this horrific event.

As I write, it is Friday, just 4 days away from Christmas.  In Newtown, there were 5 more funerals held today.  It is a terrible thing to lose a loved one.  It is magnified when it is during a holiday season.  The work that Nick is doing with EFT can help ease the emotional trauma.

For me, this is the most practical contribution I can make to Newtown, because it will provide true emotional support and healing to a community in need.  Will you join me?

Agave Sweetener – Heartbreaker or healthmaker?

Have You Switched to Agave Sweetener due to health concerns?

Agave nectar - miracle sweetener or high-fructose nightmare?

Miracle sweetener or high-fructose nightmare?

When I discovered Agave Sweetener a couple of years ago, and did research, I read glowing reviews about the benefits of Agave.  Very impressive!  I also follow research from Dr. Mercola, who began to look deeper into Agave Syrup GI rating.  Because the Glycemic Index rating was so high, he voiced the opinion that Agave may not be  the “miracle sweetener” after all.

All my life I have had to battle a sweet-tooth.  That battle has lead to continued research, and a change in my personal beliefs and eating habits.  Bottom line – research shows too much sugar is not healthy – period!

My body has told me over and over again – “when you feed me more sugar, I want more and more.  So, I basically have made a conscious choice – if I want to sweeten something, I add sweetness in whole food form. Read more »

Can your brain be rewired?

Negative Brain Control

There’s a part of your brain that is so old and so ancient that it can’t tell the difference between the life or death danger of a tiger that is about to attack…

…and the perceived danger of simple, everyday tasks. Yes, your brain may perceive basic tasks like going to work, managing your finances and even basic social skills as threats which trigger your fight or flight response.  This can be better defined by a term we are all familiar with – STRESS. Brain Disorders Get More Funding for Brain Research

The Stigma of Brain Disorders

Brain disorders used to get thrown into the broad category of mental illness, and included conditions such as schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, psychosis, and many more.   Anyone suffering from these conditions lived with the stigma of mental illness.

Research over the last 20 years has shed so much more light on brain dysfunction, and its root causes.  The stigma of mental illness is starting to lift, as people get more educated.   Unfortunately, there is still so much more to learn. Read more »
